How to whisk the perfect cup of matcha at home

5 min read

Matcha has gone from a niche tea-house staple to an everyday ritual. The good news: you don't need special equipment to get a smooth, foamy cup in your own kitchen.

What you need

Method

Sift the powder into a wide bowl to avoid clumps. Add a splash of water and make a paste, then add the remaining water and whisk in a zig-zag motion until a fine foam forms on top. Enjoy it plain, or topped with warm oat milk for a latte.

Bitter taste? The water is probably too hot. Dull colour? Your matcha may be old. Store the tin in the fridge and use it within a couple of months.
